Repair and Leasing Scheme

Expressions of Interest are sought from owners of vacant houses and commercial properties for the Repair and Leasing Scheme (RLS).

What is the RLS?

The aim of the Repair and Leasing Scheme is to bring vacant houses or commercial properties back into use as homes for households who are on the Housing Waiting List [Allocation of Houses – Housing Waiting List].

Under the Scheme, the Council (or an AHB) provides an interest-free loan of up to €80,000 to repair vacant properties and bring them up to rental standard.  In return, the refurbished homes will be leased to the Council (or an AHB) and the property owner will receive a regular income based on a percentage of market rent, with the loan repaid as a reduction in the lease payment over an agreed term.
